Okay, just to start things off on the right foot...being back and all...

Immediately thought:

I did it again: two finished pages up in one day! Hooray!
New Page

Maybe things aren't quite going according to plan, eh Mr. Shady-Alchemist? New Page

In order, these are the drawin's of the day from the past three days at work. Well, four calendar days, but three work days. This is probably the best drawing of Tengu Man I've ever done. And Layer. And possibly the most entertaining of Rouge the Bat.

Okay, so some of the things I've been thinking about while picking these, now that hands are off-limits:
1) shows a detail that's hard to see on the smaller size page
2) doesn't give away what happens on the new page
3) I have to like it.

So, that's it.

Eleven pages left!!

I Think Hands Are Cheating

It's official. I'll try to stop doing them as previews, it's just kind of hard sometimes to know what will give something away and what won't! What would look good and what would just look stupid! It's hard!
Whatever, there's a new page.

Crazy Dayzees

It's been hectic around here with me trying to get ready to go on a mission. Whole-day shopping trips, while they may be important, are not super-conducive to posting a lot of stuff. But I did go to work today, so enjoy this guy, even though updates may get a bit more sporadic from here on in.

The train's guard is just a born leader. Really instils confidence in these passengers. Check it: New Page

Move It!

"It's a good thing you're not a big fat guy, or this would be really difficult."

Sometimes I like it when I come up with a slightly different "model"--both from the original character and my own habits. This one was really fun for me:

So adorable, right? I really liked how the proportions of his face turned out. I mean, just look deep into those eyes.

Waugh. Nevermind.

It's fun to draw those little swirlies and sparkles. And Mystery Quest is my favorite guy to draw.

Um...Wow, That's Handy

Seriously, I didn't even mean to do that.
2 new pages!

Gotta Love His Hair

Just late-late.

I like when I get to add a little atmosphere. Can I also add that I love this character's torso? It's really nice. Unlike most Megaman characters it flows solidly down to his knees. Very fun to draw.

Late late late!

I tried to think of E. C. Segar's poses when I drew this.

Does it show?

(These panels are by the man himself! Not me!)

Today and Yester

Top is yesterday, bottom is from today.
I've been workin' hard, so I haven't been up with posting--sorry about that. Look forward to links to GIMP magazine soon!

Saturday, May 5, 2012

First, there's a new page. It's a good one.

Secondly, I have great news! I submitted an article to the GIMP Magazine, and they really liked it! I should be hearing back from the editor soon, and I can't wait to give you guys the link once it's published. As a special bonus for you blog-followers, here's one of the drawings I did for the article!
This is Wilber, the mascot for the GIMP!

Wart Removal

Even though the proportions are totally off, I can't tell you how fun it was for me to try and draw a Disney character--especially one of the Milt Kahl/Marc Davis kind of era. Arthur, or "the Wart," is great. That part with the squirrel has always been amazing. And the animation throughout is beautiful. At any rate, this was fun.
Lava chasing the Wart. What could be more natural.
